“ I had been meaning to try Mensho since it opened and I'm glad I finally had the pleasure to go! My group shared a couple of the appetizers - kaarage, enoki chips, and the hotate buttered scallops. I wanted to try the takoyaki as well, but they come in sets of 2 so it wasn't enough to share with the group. The kaarage was delicious and breading was nice and crispy. The enoki chips were unbelievably addicting. I wish I could smack on them all the time. The scallops were also amazing but they were small and harder to share. The majority of the table got the signature toripaitan (including me). It was different than most ramen I've had but it was so good. The broth was packed with texture and creaminess and was not too salty. The smoked duck egg was really good. And of course all the meat was tender and incredible. I will definitely be coming back! ”
“ We finally made the time to visit Mensho. Excellent atmosphere and delicious food! We were greeted with welcoming friendly staff. The service was quick and staff were attentive. We were able to try various food with prices between $20-$30 for the main dishes and $10-$20 for the mini dishes. Overall our experience was amazing! ”
“ Perfect spot for a date night or catch up with friends! As soon as we walked in, we were instantly transported to Japan. You're greeted with an "Irashaimase" by the whole staff as you are escorted to your table. The inside looks EXACTLY LIKE JAPAN. Reminds me of those restaurants you can find tucked in the food court of train stations. Luckily we went on a weeknight, so the wait was not long at all. But if there is, the hostess mentioned there's a 15% discount at the boba shop next door (which so happens to be one of my favorite places)! We got the Enoki mushrooms, corn and Signature Ramen. The enoki chips were 10/10. With a good squeeze of lemon and sprinkled with Togarashi, it's a balanced app to snack on while you're waiting for your ramen. The corn has a nice charred flavor, but other than that, nothing too special. As for the ramen, probably 7/10. Id say I'm pretty picky with my ramen though! While the noodles were freshly hand cut, they were thicker than what I typically enjoy, so it's not as bouncy. The broth was a chicken based broth, which honestly I have never seen before! I'm more of a rich, Tonkotsu broth type of gal, and this leaned more to the lighter and blander side. However, the toppings are what brought the score up for me. The wagyu just melted in my mouth and the egg was cooked to soft-boiled perfection! I'd say this is a pretty solid spot to go out for a nice date night or special occasion. Although... probably not the place for a bigger reservation since it's a compact space. Is it the best ramen in Phoenix? Mmm, I'm not too sure yet. I've heard great things about their duck matcha ramen, so I definitely want to come back to try that out! ”
“ Finally decided to come here in hopes that the long lines have dissipated. For 2 people, we were seated right away, so any more than that is when the wait takes long. The space is jam packed. They've squeezed people in there so if you're looking to gossip or have private conversations, this is not the place unless you don't care if others are listening in haha. We got the signature ramen and the GKO (garlic knock out). Both are good. Though the signature ramen can use more flavor. I think for AZ, it's great ramen. The Japanese carpaccio was delicious! It's hard to pickup without dropping the toppings on there though so I wish it came with a spoon. ”
“ Mensho Ramen, the Michelin-rated hotspot burst onto the Mesa foodie scene in June 2024! They specialize in handmade noodles with a focus on "farm-to-bowl" preparation. It's also notoriously known for long wait times because they're so good! I met up with a friend on a Friday at 11:50AM and there was already a short line in front as we all eagerly awaited their 12PM opening. We were seated right away and I noticed the restaurant filling completely within 20 minutes! The decor radiated traditional Japanese charm, and our friendly server guided us through the menu. We both decided on the Signature Toripaitan which arrived within 10 mins! Wow, what a gorgeous presentation! The Signature Toripaitan is comprised of thick truffled chicken broth, slices of Wagyu, smoked pork, duck and chicken, fried menma (bamboo), charcoal negi (Japanese onion) and a ajitama egg atop perfectly chewy handmade noodles! The amalgamation of the flavors made for a very satiating meal! Totally worth the wait for a taste of Mensho ramen royalty! I would 10000% return to try other items on the menu in the near future! ”
“ You don't have to be an übermensch to enjoy some of the tastiest ramen in the valley at Mensho but it probably does help to be at least a mensch. We came here right when the shop opened and were able to get a table for 2 easily but the restaurant did reach full capacity very quickly after we sat down. The restaurant itself is really beautiful inside and does have a very Japanese aesthetic with a lot of warm toned wood on the walls. I knew ahead of time I wanted the signature toripaitan ramen. It consists of a rich chicken stock, A5 wagyu, smoked pork, duck, chicken, spinach, truffle sauce, ajitama egg, fried menma, charcoal negi, green onion and red onion. There were so many ingredients in the ramen I had to write a Mensho memo to myself to be able to list them all! At $28 it's probably one of the most expensive bowls of ramen I've had but it was worth it. The meats, egg and vegetables were cooked to perfection and the broth was really intensely flavored. The ramen noodles had just the right amount of texture and chew. Service was friendly and we were checked on as needed. I'd definitely come back to try more off the menu. ”
“ The earth shook today. Did you feel it? I ate what was, possibly, the best meal I've ever had. Ever. So far. The Phoenix New Times published a list of the Valley's best ramen. While I disagreed with a few entries, and one was notably missing, Mensho was new to me. Wow. It was amazing. We went in midday on a Sunday and there was still a wait. We were shown to our table and welcomed promptly with water. Tables are few so demand is high. A wait should be expected and anticipated. Plan accordingly because it's worth it. Mensho has a great menu with a variety of selections ranging from meat to vegan. I was here for the ramen. I ordered the G.K.O., or Garlic Knock Out. It is a rich, amazing, umami-filled bowl of wonder featuring garlic prepared five different ways. Seriously the best food I've had in the last 25 years...if not all time. Dining partner had the Toripaitan Spicy. We also ordered garlic edamame. Flavor profiles were different, but the overall harmony of spice, tone, nuance, texture and house-made noodle was superb. Yes, they're fussy about the noodle and mill the grain to make each and every noodle in house! That, alone, should draw a crowd! Both ramens were transcendent. No question, best we've ever had. Service was great. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. This place deserves every accolade it has received. I can't wait for the midtown Phoenix location to open. Mensho for the absolute win. Btw, chef and founder has won myriad awards for his creations. Even Michelin! So glad Phoenix area got its own Mensho! ”
“ I've been meaning to try Mensho Ramen for a while, and I finally got the chance! Be prepared for a wait--ours was about an hour since they don't take reservations. But let me tell you, it was worth it. We started with the crispy mushrooms, and they were unreal. Perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor--honestly, I'd go back just for those. For the main course, I had the duck Matcha Ramen, and it was unbelievable. I was a little worried the matcha flavor might be overpowering, but it was perfectly balanced and complemented the broth beautifully. My only complaint is that the egg was cold, which was a bit disappointing in an otherwise amazing bowl. The service was excellent; the staff was attentive and friendly despite how busy it was. That said, the restaurant feels a bit cramped--they're definitely trying to maximize seating, but it can be a little uncomfortable. We couldn't get out of our seats without the waiter physically moving our table, which was awkward. Overall, the food and service make it worth the visit, but be prepared for tight quarters and a long wait. Definitely give the duck Matcha Ramen a try--it's a game-changer! ”
“ I finally made it to Mensho and I agree with all the hype! The ambiance, service, and food were all excellent. Our server was very helpful in choosing drinks, appetizers, and ramen, and very pleasant. We had some of the A5 wagyu nigiri, which were delicious! I meant to take a photo as I hadn't seen a lot of photos of the appetizers, but my appetite got the best of me. My friend and I both got the Signature Toripaitan ramen for the variety and both thought it was delicious. I will definitely be back to try the GKO! ”
